Compact Hydraulic Disc Brakes for
1 AND 2 PLACE EXPERIMENTAL Aircraft
CONSTRUCTION:
Our C-90 brake bodies are precision
machined from aircraft aluminum billet stock and then black anodized per
MIL-A-8625. The finned brake discs are CNC laser cut from low carbon steel,
tumbled and black oxide finished to aid in cooling.
The outer pad support plates are epoxy primed
and painted matte black. The non-asbestos, semi-metallic brake linings are
riveted. Stainless steel button head screws are used for assembly, and the
engagement pins are machined from stainless steel.
OPERATION:
C-90 Hydraulic disc brakes are modular
captive disc units, with a generous 9 square inches of friction area. (Captive
disc brakes require a minimum of pedal travel, light to moderate pedal
pressures, and put no side load on the wheel bearings). Piston area is 2.16
square inches, and the weight of each unit is 20oz complete. Single or dual
master cylinders can be used, with suggested leverage ratios of 4:1 (foot
operation) to 6:1 (hand operation).
APPLICATION:
C-90 Hydraulic disc brakes are designed
to fit 5" & 6" Azusa Tri-Star and Azusalite wheels. They are suggested for
use on aircraft with gross weights up to 1200 pounds and landing speeds to 50
knots. The wheels can be removed for servicing without disturbing the brakes.
Complete instructions are included.
