The publication of plans for the LS16D Whitewater Guideboat is the result of a number of years of development work involving guides and professional builders from the U.S. and Canada.
Seat height, oarlock location, freeboard, hull trim and other "ergonomic" factors that have made the Headwater 14 the most popular plans-built drift boat in the world have all been maintained in this new design.
Length, bottom width, and overall capacity have been increased, and an aft casting position has been included. Provision has been made for the installation of commercially available folding seats in all passenger positions. A traditional rope seat is used in the oarsman's position.
Sealed flotation and dry stowage are provided beneath the aft seat platform and below the forward casting deck. Additional flotation is provided when the optional sponson seat support and external rail configuration is chosen.
